The award recognizes the outstanding contributions of support staff to K-State Libraries. Each year the Libraries' faculty and staff nominate support staff for Employee of the Year, based on their special contributions, dedication to daily tasks, and ability to work successfully across the organization.
The Support Staff of the Year award is available to any University Support Staff member who has completed at least one year of service at K-State Libraries. Nominations are reviewed by a diverse selection committee and a winner is chosen. All nominees are acknowledged at an annual ceremony. The winner’s name is added to the K-State Libraries' Support Staff the Year Award plaque, and they receive a monetary award from the Friends of the K-State Libraries.
This Year's Winner
Cindy Harris, library assistant III, the Morse Department of Special Collections and Archives
Cindy Harris, library assistant III, was chosen as the Support Staff of the Year. This award recognizes a support staff employee's special contributions, dedication to daily tasks and ability to work successfully across the organization.
According to her nominator, "Cindy has played a vital role in protecting the Special Collections materials. She spent six months cleaning moldy materials and handling emergencies such as water leaks and termite infestations—often in a cramped office space alone, as most staff were located elsewhere. Her grit and determination to meet these challenges head-on has been inspiring to everyone and shows a dedication to excellence where many would falter.”
