Name: Sally Carey
Department: Interlibrary Services
According to her nominators:
Congratulations to the Libraries’ Student Employee of the Month, Sally Carey! Sally works for Interlibrary Services. Here is the nomination received for Sally:
Sally began working for us shortly after the fire, at a chaotic time when our procedures were changing nearly every day. She adapted to the many changes and learned the job very quickly. While we were working at the Annex during the summer, she was a tremendous help in organizing our shipping operations and preparing most of the loans for patrons.
When school began and our lending students returned, Sally trained lending students to process borrowing requests since lending ceased due to the fire. She continues to take the lead in processing new loans each day—as many as 118 in one batch and 856 of the 1,057 loans processed during September. She also helps other students and staff band the loans and deliver them to the Union and Weigel. She maintains an amazing attitude and remains upbeat despite repetitive tasks.
Sally also processes most of the interlibrary loan renewal requests, monitors the ILL email account for responses from lending libraries about renewals, and notifies patrons about responses. In addition, she places requests for many loans and copies. Her calm and pleasant demeanor make her a joy to work with!
Thank you, Sally, for all your hard work and positivity!
K-State Libraries employ approximately 60 part-time students each year. These students are commited to our success, and we couldn’t run the Libraries without them. With this award we want to acknowledge and honor our dedicated student employees serving in the Libraries.
If you have an outstanding student we encourage you to nominate them for this award.
The winner will receive a framed certificate and small gift.
Nominations are due the 3rd Friday of every month.
