K-State Libraries are a selective depository of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), collecting selected U.S. and Kansas government publications. Additionally, we serve the government information needs of K-State faculty, students, staff, and the citizens of Kansas by providing research assistance, public computer workstations, internet access, interlibrary loans, and more. K-State Libraries public services and access policies ensure free, public access to government information.
Research Assistance
Library patrons who need assistance searching the catalog or locating items in the collection are encouraged to contact Library Help at the Union at the Information Desk at the K-State Union.
Government Collections
The primary U.S. and Kansas publications collections are located in Stack F of Hale Library. You can use the Search It to search the collections. The government collections are classified and shelved using the Superintendent of Document Classification Scheme, a different arrangement than that used to organize K-State Libraries’ other collections.
Ask a Librarian if you have questions about locating government publications.
Databases
K-State Libraries subscribe to several specialized databases and digital resources related to Government & Law. Hale Library has more than 200 computer workstations that provide full access to the internet and are available for public use. Laptop users may also take advantage of K-State’s wireless networks. Off-campus use of these databases, except those categorized as free resources, is limited to K-State faculty, students, and staff.
The Government Information research guide includes links to Kansas, U.S., and international government websites, along with agencies that collect and distribute government information.
Maps
The map collection is currently inaccessible due to a fire at Hale Library (learn more about the fire). Ask a Librarian for assistance requesting the maps from interlibrary loan.
