The materials in the Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Special Collections and University Archives are available for students, staff, and faculty of K-State as well as the general public. The majority of our holdings are unique, rare, or extremely fragile requiring them to be used in the Reading Room.
Reading Room Basics
The Reading Room is located on the 5th floor of Hale Library and open 10 am—5 pm, Monday through Friday.
Before Your Visit
Appointments for research materials are not required. However, if you let us know about your visit in advance via the Researcher Registration Form, we can have the material waiting for you when you arrive.
While You Are Here
When you visit Special Collections, we ask that you follow some basic procedures:
Store your personal belongings (coats, bags, books, folders) in our secure coatroom.
Leave food and drink outside.
Use laptops, digital cameras, and pencils instead of pens.
Although material cannot be checked-out, we can place it on hold for return visits. You are also welcome to scan material into .pdfs and .jpgs using our self-service scanner.
Help from a Distance
If you are unable to visit us in person, we will do our best to help you virtually. Please e-mail us with your request at firstname.lastname@example.org.
