Doris Fenton

Doris Hays Fenton graduated with a Masters degree from Kansas State University in 1940. Her thesis was entitled: "Novels, narrative sketches and short stories 1930-1940 concerning the poorer Americans." She joined the staff at KSU as an instructor in the Department of English in 1945.

The Doris Fenton Collection (1936-1962) reflects her personal interest and involvement in the Big Blue river floods, the Tuttle Creek Dam, and conservation related to this project. The collection consists of newspaper clippings and printed material documenting the controversy surronding these projects. It is divided into three series: 1) Floods, 1951; 2) Dams and Flood Control, 1944-1956; and 3) Conservation, 1936-1962.
