What is a Peer Reviewed Journal?
A peer reviewed (or refereed) journal publishes articles that have been reviewed by other experts in the field. The article must pass this review process before being published by the journal.

Examples of peer reviewed journals in Women's Studies are Feminist Theory, Gender & Society and NWSA Journal. Articles in peer reviewed journals are written for a specialized audience, have a plain appearance, and include citations.

Journals (or magazines) such as Bust, Ms., Newsweek, and Time are not peer reviewed. These journals rarely include citations, often have pictures, and are written for a broad audience.
