this is how you can get stuff that the Libraries does not have. Books will come in about 5-10 days. Articles will be scanned and emailed to you in about 2-5 days (sometimes even that day).
- Know were to ask for help! You can contact the Kinesiology librarian or Ask a Librarian.
Using PubMed
PubMed is the premier search engine for citations, abstracts, and articles about health, life sciences, and biomedical topics. Here are some tips for using it.
- Only type in the important words in your search.
Question- What are the barriers that keep women from strength training?
Possible keywords- women/females/girls, training/physical activity, academia/college/university/school, barriers, beauty/appearance
- Email or print every article that looks interesting. Do this by clicking on Send to and then select email, print, etc.
- GET IT. If the article is full text, print it or save it to a flash drive. If it is not full text, click on We'll try to get it for you. This will take you to an interlibrary loan or ILLiad form. You will need to enter in your username and password. Once entered, the form will be mostly filled out (that's ok). Make sure to check the Language box. If you do not want an article in a language other than English, check No in the Language box.
