Job Description

Student positions available in the Building Services Department.  This department is responsible for building maintenance reporting, moving and hauling within the building, and receiving and delivering mail.  Student employees participate in all areas of Building Services, and work during regular day shifts, and after hours events held in Hale Library.

Hours:

Position starts August 2017.

2 positions open - 10-20 hours per week in the fall/spring semesters.  Hours in the fall/spring semesters will be flexible. 

*** Summer availability is required for summer 2018 *** You will be required to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. over the summer.

Description of Duties:

  1. Understanding, addressing, sorting, and distribution of campus and outbound mail.
  2. Transporting and picking-up of materials from various branch Libraries on a daily basis.
  3. Maintaining of supply requests, filing, inventory, and organization of supply room materials.
  4. Answering telephones and customer questions
  5. Operating the barcode scanner and maintaining excel spreadsheet
  6. Installing and removing shelving
  7. Setting up and tearing down furniture for events, exhibits, and office settings
  8. Checking building for maintenance problems
  9. Calling in repair orders to Facilities
  10. Setting-up and operating a multitude of media equipment for use
  11. Successfully completing Van Training class
  12. Performing operator’s maintenance on van and truck.

All these steps will be taught to the successful applicant.

Required Skills:    

  • Ability to transport 50 lbs
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Excellent customer service skills

Helpful Skills:        

  • Computer skills 

Equipment used:  Microsoft Office suite, Mail Delivery Van, Pallet Jack
