Consortial Agreements and Cooperative Collection Management
Kansas State University Libraries participates in a number of consortial
agreements and cooperative collection management programs with other
research libraries in order to enhance collection development and document
delivery. Affiliations include:
Center for Research Libraries
- Generous interlibrary loan policies – will lend extensive collections
for extended periods
- Special purchase plan for targeted materials
- Selected specialties – foreign language science and technology
serials; South Asia and Southeast Asia serials; domestic, ethnic,
and foreign newspapers in print and film; foreign dissertations;
university catalogs; primary and secondary textbooks; major microform
sets; U.S. state and foreign government publications
Greater Western Libraries Alliance
- Cooperative purchase of electronic resources at discount
- K-State Libraries participate in the GWLA purchase of IEL and ACM
electronic materials.
- Change agent in efforts to return control of scholarly publishing
to the academy – SPARC and BioOne partner
- Rapid document delivery and resource sharing among the 30 member
libraries
Kansas Regents Libraries Database
Committee
- Cooperative purchase of electronic resources at discount for Regents
University libraries in partnership with the Kansas State Library
and public library system
- K-State Libraries participate in the purchase of many electronic
databases, reference tools, full-text databases, and electronic
books
- Library partner with KanEd
NSF EPSCoR
Science Information Group
- Cooperative purchase of scientific, technical and medical resources
to enhance information delivery to scientists eligible to participate
in the National Science Foundation’s EPSCoR program
- K-State Libraries purchases the Kluwer and Blackwell electronic journal
packages through this source.
SPARC
- Alliance dedicated to returning science to scientists by encouraging
reform of scholarly communications
- K-State Libraries purchase a number of SPARC-endorsed scientific
journals in support of reform.
