Digital Initiatives, a unit within the Metadata, Preservation, and Digital Initiatives Department, digitizes and provides access to unique and rare collections of the K-State Libraries and K-State communities. The unit also participates in the digital preservation process, incorporating best practices into the creation, description, and storage of digital collections.

Areas of focus

This unit’s areas of focus include

  • Digital Collections - a gateway to a variety of unpublished and/or historical  resources ranging from books and peer-reviewed articles to photographs and historical documents.

K-State 2025 

K-State Libraries’ Strategic Plan supports K-State's 2025 initiative for K-State to be recognized nationally as a Top 50 public research university.  Key activities of this department include

  • Providing leadership and personnel in the areas of digitization in order to elevate campus projects.
  • Enhancing the research reputation of K-State by developing supportive services and collections.

  • Increasing the visibility and understanding of staff, roles, services, collections, and programs of the Libraries to promote the added value that libraries and librarians bring to engagement.
