Lt. Marjorie Honstead, Experiences in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in WWII

Marjorie Honstead

Lt. Marjorie Honstead (1920–2006), a graduate of Topeka High School and Christ Hospital School of Nursing, joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. during World War II. She was appointed to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on June 15, 1943 and was stationed at hospitals in the United States and Great Britain. After the war, Honstead attended Kansas State College and received a degree in Home Economics in 1949.

As a tribute to her mother, Honstead’s daughter donated the Marjorie L. Honstead Feldhausen Papers (1943–1946) to the university. The collection documents the years Lt. Honstead served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
