Assist in the development, delivery and maintenance of digital content and services in support of digital initiatives. Design, develop and adapt resources and tools for ingesting, storing, managing, and accessing digital content into various digital repositories. Contribute to collaborative Web development projects using Java, XML, Subversion, PHP and MySQL. Participate in the design and implementation efforts on database and user interface work for Digital Initiatives projects. Assist in building a robust Website infrastructure using server side scripting languages such as PHP, JSP; mark-up languages, including XML and XSL; and relational databases, such as MSSQL and MySQL. Must have experience in building web applications on UNIX or Solaris platform. Apply principles of usability and accessibility to develop effective site interfaces and navigation structures. Gather requirements and information for new projects. Perform troubleshooting and change requests for existing systems. Make modifications and customize products that not originally developed within the library. Anticipate Web trends, investigate their application to the academic library, and develop new Web-based services. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or related field. Demonstrated ability through work experience to develop web applications on UNIX or Solaris platforms. Demonstrated ability through work experience to work with web technologies including XML, XSL, SOAP, Java, MSSQL and MySQL. Demonstrated ability with server side scripting languages including JSP, PHP and revision control systems such as Subversion. $42,661 - $46,000/yr.
