Laser Printing in Hale Library InfoCommons

K-Staters with eIDs are allowed $10.00 each semester, plus $5.00 in the summer, for free laser printing in University Computing Labs. Printing can either be single-sided or double-sided (duplex). The cost of printing is 10 cents for the first side and 8 cents for the second side. If you exceed this amount, you may add additional funds to your Wildcat Card at the smart chip recharge station (Cash to Chip) machines located in K-State Libraries' Anita Lehner 24-hour Study Center and at other campus locations. Money on the chip can also be used in most campus vending machines.

InfoCommons print jobs display on all print stations, except the 24-Hour Study print station, which adds more flexibility to printing.

Print stations in InfoCommons:
  • 24-Hour Study   1st Floor
  • Science Libraries   1st Floor
  • Southwest area   1st Floor
  • General Reference area   2nd Floor  (2 stations)
  • Media Development Center   Room 213
  • Government Publications   3rd Floor
  • Dow Multicultural Resource Center   3rd Floor

Your print job is not actually printed until you go to the Print Station computer and either enter your eID and password or insert your Wildcat card into the card reader, and you select your print job from the queue. Your print job is then printed by the adjoining laser printer. Print jobs not run within 30 minutes are deleted automatically from the Printer Station queue and will not deduct the print fee from your account.

To print to the laser printers from the Hale InfoCommons, follow the steps below:

  1. Click File then click Print in the application you would like to print from.  A box will appear. The default mode for printing is single sided. To change the default print options, choose Properties. Click on OK if you are ready to print - if not click on Cancel.

  2. A box will appear that asks you to name your print job. Generally, people will use their name but any word that you will remember will work. Click on OK.

  3. When you are ready to get your documents, go to the Print Station by the laser printer. Type in your userid and password for free printing, or, if you are paying with your Smart or Wildcat Card, insert the card into the reader. The monitor will show a list of print jobs. Highlight your print job(s) and click on Print at the bottom of the screen. Your print job(s) will be printed by the adjoining laser printer.

Don't forget to eject your card when you are finished!
