How do I find market share information?

Market share is defined as: percentage of industry sales of a particular company or product. (Barron's Dictionary of Business Terms. 2000. 3rd ed.)

Search by company (view tutorial):

  1. Enter the company name in the search box and click the green Search button.
  2. Select the appropriate company name from the list of results.
  3. Click the Rankings tab (if there are no rankings available for your company, this tab will be grayed out).
  4. Once you get to the Rankings page, there may be two sub tabs located directly below the Rankings tab (Business Rankings and Market Share).
  5. Click the Market Share tab.

Search by industry (view tutorial):

  1. If looking for industry rankings, search by industry description or SIC code.
  2. Click the Industry button and type either the SIC code or the industry descriptor in the appropriate box.
  3. If you typed the industry description, select the appropriate link from the listed results.
  4. Click the Rankings tab, then the Market Share tab.

Advanced Search:

  1. Select Rankings from the dropdown menu adjacent to Content Area.
  2. Enter the search term (company name, SIC code, industry description) and select the appropriate field from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter Market Share Reporter (enter World Market Share Reporter if you are looking for international coverage) in the next box and select Source from the dropdown menu.
