Using Laptops in Hale Library
Using Laptops in Hale Library with Ethernet Cards

*Note: Many of the Study Carrels have ethernet jacks. Please read the following before connecting.

You can access the Internet and the K-State Libraries databases from your own laptop computer by connecting to an ethernet jack in any of the library study carrels. The only hardware required is an ethernet card in your computer and an ethernet cord to connect the card to the jack.


Using Laptops in Hale Library with Wireless Cards

Many Building on campus are now equipped with wireless access to the Internet. You can access the Internet and the K-State Libraries databases from your own laptop computer. Your wireless connection will be automatically activated when you are in the vicinity of a wireless access point. The only hardware required is a wireless card.




Automatic Internet Address (IP) Assignment
Within Hale library, as well as all other buildings with wireless access, Internet addresses (IP) are assigned automatically using DHCP, so you will need to set your computers TCP/IP configurations accordingly.
