Accessing databases and e-journals
Common access
issues
- Mozilla Firefox (any 1.x, 1.5.x, or 2.x version), available for free, is the recommended
browser for this site. IE 6.x or 7.x also does fine with our site. Some browsers may not
be supported by our database providers.
- Cookies must be enabled.
- Some databases only permit a limited number of users.
If you are unable to access a database, try again later. You can see the number of permitted users under each database title on the databases page.
What to do if you have difficulties logging in or accessing an E-Journal or database
- If K-State is not your internet service provider, eID login is required for off-campus access to many of K-State Libraries' online resources. You will be prompted to enter your eID and password after clicking a database or e-journal link from the libraries' pages; following a bookmark or link from another source will typically fail from off-campus.
- Contact the K-State IT Help Desk if you experience
login issues: (785) 532-7722, 214 Hale Library.
- Difficulties accessing a specific e-journal or database should be reported to janehale.
Every attempt will be made to resolve problems that are within
our control and we will respond to your e-mails. On weekends and evenings when Hale Library is staffed,
you may also e-mail
or call the Hale Library Help Desk at (785) 532-7421 for assistance. Subscription-related
problems will likely only be able to be resolved Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
How to get
an eID
New K-Staters need to register to activate their
K-State Electronic Identification: eIDs are required for many K-State services, including KATS, WebMail, and K-State Online.
If K-State is not your internet service provider, eIDs are also required for
off-campus access to many of K-State Libraries' online resources.
eIDs remain active until the
student, staff, or faculty member leaves K-State. Questions about eIDs
should be referred to the K-State IT Help Desk in 214 Hale Library, (785)
532-7722, or e-mail
.
If you are a Division of Continuing Education (DCE) student enrolled in
a "short
course," contact the Library Facilitator at 1-800-622-2578 or
. More information can be found at Library Services for Distance Education Students and Distance
Learning pages.
