General Description of Position:

This position is responsible for the development of a web application for Beach Museum as described in the relevant Memorandum of Understanding between Beach Museum and K-State Libraries.

Job Description:

Student-Programmers are primarily responsible for building and maintaining applications used by the K-State Library system. Programmers in the Library IT department use a variety of technologies in order to meet the organization’s goals. These technologies include PHP, Javascript, XML, JSON AJAX, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Ruby, various Javascript libraries, and others as determined by the Assistant Director of Library IT Services.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in the K-State Graduate School and graduate student employees must be enrolled in at least six semester credit hours at K-State during the academic year.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in combination with a suitable digital portfolio demonstrating proficiency in the use of HTML, CSS, Javascript, the creation of a well-structured Document Object Model, and user interface design.
  • Demonstrated ability to build web applications with the use of client side technologies (such as HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript).
  • Demonstrated ability to build applications which take advantage of Javascript libraries, such as the jQuery family, Vis.js, P5.js, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to build using Responsive Web Design.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology skills.
  • Familiarity with version-control systems, such as GIT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CouchDB experience. AngularJS experience.
  • 2-3 years experience with the following: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, jQuery, XML, JSON, AJAX, SOAP, REST
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
