Rainy Day Book Bags - The Friends of K-State Libraries provided Rainy Day Book Bags in May 1999 for K-State Libraries and the Manhattan Public Library. The Preservation Team appreciated the Friends sponsoring this project. The bags are heavily used by patrons. Food and Drink Display - In an effort to educate library patrons and staff about the Library's food and drink policy and thoughtful handling of books, the Team creates a display of damaged books. The display is set up at the beginning of each Fall semester. Go to top of pageLabWith the new addition of the library in 1997, a Preservation Lab was designed for facilitaing conservation and preservation of Hale Library's collections. A number of repair techniques are completed in the lab including spine repairs, archival enclosures and tipping in pages.

Student TrainingIn January 1997, the Preservation Team reinstated the requirement that all students employed in Hale Library attend the Preservation Awarness sessions. The sessions are taught by several members of the Preservation Team. Each semester a variety of session times are offered.
