News

2009 Library Staff Recognition Awards

The 2009 winner of the Brice G. Hobrock Distinguished Faculty award is associate professor Marcia Stockham, chair of the Social Sciences/Humanities department. The annual award, established by the Friends of the K-State Libraries, recognizes the winners outstanding professional accomplishments and service to the profession. Stockham will receive a plaque and a monetary award at the Friends annual meeting in May.

Maxine Ganske, library assistant II, was awarded the 2009 K-State Libraries Classified Employee of the year award. Ganske was recognized for her work in Weigel Library. She received a plaque and a monetary award from the Friends of the K-State Libraries during a ceremony held in the Hemisphere Room of Hale Library.

Recent Purchases by the Friends of the K-State Libraries

A portable lectern with wire management to make it easier to attach a presenter's laptop to the built-in technology in the Hale Library Hemisphere Room. Purchased by the children and friends of Robert and Jan Kruh in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Ongoing Book Sale

The Friends of the K-State Libraries began a self-service, donation only Ongoing Book Sale on October 1. This book sale is open during library service hours and is located in the second floor of Hale Library. Books are displayed on two custom-built carts designed by Gene Ernst and purchased by the Friends and the K-State Libraries.
