K-State First Ladies Portrait Gallery
A portrait gallery of the wives of the first twelve presidents of K-State from 1863 through 2009 has been created on the 2nd Floor of Hale Library. Entering Hale Library, take a left and walk past the InfoCommons to the corridor where the portraits are hung on the wall opposite the study alcoves.
22nd Annual Library Gala Celebrates Military History
General Richard Myers, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Mary Jo Myers, K-State alums and Honorary Gala Chairs invite you to attend the 22nd Annual Library Gala on November 13 in the historic Farrell Great Room. Guests arriving at the Sunflower Entrance will be greeted by Army and Air Force ROTC cadets and directed to the Great Room where the First Infantry Division Jazz Combo will be playing cocktail/dinner music. Military history costumes and memorabilia will be on display courtesy of the K-State Historic Costume and Textile Museum and the Department of Special Collections. The program will feature General Myers, with remarks by President Kirk Schulz and Dean Lori Goetsch. Dancing follows with music by Dave Lewis, local DJ and radio personality. This event is also an opportunity to welcome President Kirk Schulz, and his wife, Paslay Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dr. Noel Schulz, to their first Library Gala.
Valet parking will be available on Mid-Campus Drive. Attire is black tie optional (civilian) and mess/dress (military). Invitations should arrive the week of October 12.

Encore Concert by Dr. Slawomir Dobrzanski
The Hale Library Concert Series, 2009 - 2010, opens with an Encore Concert by Dr. Slawomir Dobrzanski, pianist, on October 16. Dr. Dobrzanski spent the summer playing concerts in China, Italy, Poland, and Germany. His program will feature works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Leos Janacek, Manuel de Falla, Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
The performance begins at 7:30 pm in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room. Enjoy wine and dessert after the concert in the 5th Floor Gallery. Tickets are $25 per person. All proceeds support the concert series and the refurbishment and upkeep of the Mason & Hamlin grand piano.
