Requesting Materials

K-State students, faculty, and staff unable to travel to K-State Libraries may use Interlibrary Services (ILS) to obtain materials in K-State Libraries or other libraries. To obtain materials in K-State Libraries or other libraries log in to your interlibrary loan account (Illiad) to submit, edit, and renew loan requests.

You may request copies of articles or book chapters via your interlibrary loan account. A separate form must be filled out for each article or book chapter, no more than 2 chapters per book; otherwise request the entire book. The materials don't need to be in K-State Libraries; we will obtain them from other libraries if we don't have them here. There are no fees for this service.

Most articles and book excerpts will be delivered electronically within 2-10 days. You will receive an e-mail each time an article is received. The e-mail will provide a link to download your article.

Books and Other Materials

We will send you any books and other materials via UPS, except for videos and DVDs with short loan periods. It can take between 4 and 12 shipping days for materials to arrive after we receive the loan at K-State.  Distance Learners are responsible for the cost of return postage.  Materials should be insured with a traceable mail service (UPS or FedEx preferred). We will mail to anyone living approximately 40 miles outside Manhattan within the United States.   We do not overnight materials to your location. For students serving in the military or stationed with family in the military, we will ship to an APO address.  This shipping method takes an additional week to arrive.

K-State Libraries’ materials are checked out to distance patrons on their MyLibrary account. Non-K-State Libraries materials are checked out to distance patrons on their interlibrary loan account.
