  • Reading area staff will remove the issues from shelf and send the issues to the binding area with the printout.
  • The shelf label for the old title will be removed from the reading area . Reading room staff will create a shelf label for the new title.
Ceased titles will be removed from reading areas and bound right away.
  • The Serials specialist will send a printout of the bibliographic record to the reading area, when the end date is recorded in the record.
  • Reading area staff will remove the issues (and shelf label) from shelf and send the issues to the binding area with the printout.
Cancelled titles will be bound when the last issue is received.
  • The Serials specialist will put a cancelled note in either the serials check-in note box or the holdings record giving last expected issue and instructions "Give to Serials Specialist after check-in."
  • When the Serials specialist receives the last issue, a flyer will be inserted in the piece to alert the reading room staff to remove all issues (and shelf label) from the reading room and send the issues to the binding area.
Suspended or Discontinued titles will be removed from reading area shelves when notification is received.
  • The Serials specialist will put a message in a holdings public note field that the title has been suspended or discontinued.
  • The Serials specialist will send the reading area a printout of the bibliographic record when the title is closed.
  • The reading area will remove the issues (and shelf label) from shelf and send the issues to the binding area with the printout.
  • If the title becomes active again, the serials specialist will open the holdings record again and contact the reading area.
