Margo Kren

Margo Kren was born in McAllen, TX. Because her father was a minister, they moved every eight years, South Bend, IN, Chicago, IL, and Madison, WI. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, and her Master's degree from Kansas State University. In 1971, she joined the Art Department of KSU. She earned her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1979. Kren served as President of the Kansas City Artists Coalition, 1982-1983. She was awarded an NEA Fellowship in 1983, received the Kansas Governor's Arts Award and was awarded the KSU Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award in 1989.

The Kansas City Artists Coalition (KCAC) Collection (1971-1986) documents Margo Kren's involvement with that organization, particularly during her presidency, 1982-1983. The collection is divided into 11 series: 1. By-Laws, ca 1982; 2. Committees, 1979-1984; 3. Correspondence, 1974-1985; 4. Exhibitions, 1977-1983; 5. Exhibitions, Mulvane Art Center (Topeka), 1981-1982; 6. Financial documents, 1979-1983; 7. Forum, 1982; 8. Printed material, 1971-1986; 9. Programs, 1978-1984; 10. Projects, 1979-1982; 11. Property, 1979-1983. A large number of serials and printed material supplement the collection.
