The Landon Lecture Series on Public Issues was inaugurated by former KSU President James A. McCain in honor of Alfred M. Landon. Governor Landon was sworn in as Governor of Kansas on January 9, 1933, and he was the Republican Party nominee for president in 1936. He delivered the first Landon Lecture in 1966.
University Archives maintains files of information about all of the lectures. They include news releases, newspaper clippings, documents describing the person's visit and, in some cases, photographs. Booklets containing texts of the lectures are available, except in a few cases when the speaker did not allow the remarks to be published. The unpublished lectures are designated by an asterisk(*). Persons interested in reading a text, or studying materials about a lecture, are encouraged to visit the University Archives, Room 506, Hale Library.
Beginning with Lecture No. 100, K-State Media Relations has made available copies of the transcripts.
The Office of Mediated Education (OME) provides Real Audio and Real Video files of all available lectures. Landon Lectures are also broadcast live.
