The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry is located within the college of Agriculture. According to their website, the department was formed by the down-to-earth animal husbandry group that emerged from the Farming Department in 1901. Today it is located in the College of Agriculture and is one of the best collegiate Animal Sciences programs in the country. At the current time the department has around 125 graduate students and over 600 undergraduate students enrolled. The photographs in the collection are largely group photographs from different judging teams or contests and animal photographs that show individual animals or herds. Often when something of importance or high ranking is gained there are more photos of that particular time or event.

The collection’s accession number is U2007.25. The processing of the papers was completed by Mallory Peterson, archives student processor in October 2008.

Six subjects feature the livestock or the products made from the livestock. There are many photos of animals that have been important to the department. There are some photos that show good characteristics of individual animals for the market or butchering. There are also photos that show the proper methods for procedures performed on the animals, such as docking sheep. Also included are a few pictures of livestock with illnesses or physical problems.

The Negatives are located in the 2 small black and white patterned boxes and contains glass slides. Most of the slides in the collection are not labeled with a date. These slides could have been used for teaching and other presentations.
