Victor Eugene Reef was born on 02 Apr 1905 in Kansas, the son of Henry and Carrie Reef. He was an only child. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Kansas City, Missouri, in 1922.
On 02 Jan 1923, he entered K-State, studying chemical engineering. He listed Merriam, Kansas, as his permanent address. He had four years of military science in High School, excusing him from participation in the mandatory military science exercises at college. He took classes during the summer sessions of 1924 and 1925.
He lived in the Phi Beta Sigma Chapter House, 1020 Colorado, throughout his college education.
He graduated from K-State on 03 Jun 1926, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. The 1930 census shows that he was a public school teacher in St. Louis, Missouri.
He joined the United States Air Force on 27 Apr 1943 and served until his retirement at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 30 Apr 1965. He had returned to teaching by the summer of 1963, when he taught physics at St. Louis Community College. He was teaching mathematics and engineering at the same school during the summer of 1966.
Victor E. Reef died on 06 Apr 1992 and was buried on 10 Apr 1992 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. His wife, Leah Naomi Reef, born 11 Nov 1903, died on 08 Apr 1981.
