Short Story Research

Library Catalog
Use the Library Catalog to search for books of short stories by your author. Remember, search by your author's last name, then first name (example: Hemingway, Ernest). Make sure to look for items that are in Hale Library Stacks and that have a status of Not Checked Out. Then, write down the call number and use the stacks guide to find your book.

Reference Books
You can find reference books that provide short story criticism on the 2nd floor of Hale. Here are a few you may want to browse through:

Databases

  • Credo Reference is an easy-to-search collection of reference books that is an excellent alternative to Wikipedia
  • Literature Resource Center includes biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of works of literature, including short stories.
  • MLA International Bibliography includes a great deal of literary criticism. Search your author or the title of your story to find criticism.
  • ProQuest Research Library has a littlbe of everything for everyone and is a great place to start
