K-State Libraries
United States Serial Set

K-State Libraries subscribe to the LexisNexis U.S. Serial Set Digital Collection.  Both the United States Congressional Serial Set and its predecessor, the American State Papers, are included in this collection.  The combined product covers U.S. congressional and executive material from 1789 through 1969 (ASP v.1 – Serial Set v.12,880).  It includes congressional reports and documents, executive documents ordered to be printed by Congress, presidential communications, maps, and treaty materials.  Users can access this online full-text collection by basic, advanced, or numerical searches.  This collection is restricted to K-State faculty/students/staff and Hale Library walk-in users only.

Beginning with 1970,  Serial Set material is indexed in the LexisNexis Congressional database.  K-State Libraries’ holdings are in paper from 1970 (Serial Set v.12,881) until 1979 (Serial Set v.13,220) when the primary format switches to microfiche.  Users should check both paper and fiche holdings since formats occasionally alternated. The call number for paper and microfiche holdings is Y 1.1/2:[Serial Set number].

As of 1995, full text documents are available in both LexisNexis Congressional and on GPOAccess. LexisNexis Congressional  is restricted to K-State faculty/students/staff and Hale Library walk-in users only.  GPOAccess provides free unlimited access.

Please note that the Library of Congress’ American Memory project is in the process of digitizing both the American State Papers and the U.S. Serial Set. This site provides free unlimited access to available volumes.
