Recalls and Holds

A hold is placed on an item that circulates for less than fourteen days, or when a patron wants an item after it is returned. A hold does not change the length of time the borrower may have an item.

All items that circulate for more than fourteen days are subject to recall for use by another patron. Recalls are placed on an item when a patron wants it and does not want to wait until the current due date for it to be returned. When an item is recalled, the patron who currently has the charged item is notified that it is needed by another person. The patron is asked to return the item by a specific due date. On the first day that a recalled item is overdue, all borrowing privileges are suspended until it is returned. Fines are $5.00 a day. Recall fines are assessed to all borrowers. Recalls may be placed at anytime.
