2010 - Rachel Crocker

Rachel has provided K-State Libraries and the K-State community with exceptional service. Her dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm have made her a role model for unclassified professionals, tenure-track librarians, and classified staff alike.

Rachel's IM transactions reveal that she has become an expert at conducting thorough reference interviews and at negotiating the sometimes difficult processes of communicating highly detailed procedures via IM. She shows a tremendously deep and broad knowledge of K-State Libraries' services and resources, frequently referring people to esoteric collections that are precisely what they need. New staff are encouraged to read through Rachel's transactions to acquire a wealth of examples of high quality service.

Rachel exhibits the same excellence in her group instruction sessions and tours. She imparts essential information and leaves students with a clear and heartfelt invitation to ask a librarian whenever they encounter obstacles. Rachel has also become a leader and innovator among her colleagues. During reference, instruction, and departmental meetings, she routinely provides clever solutions to vexing problems. Rachel is deserving of recognition for contributions that go above and beyond and that make a tremendous difference in the lives of patrons and colleagues.
