BAE Senior Design group
Databases— finding articles and more—most contain the GET IT button, which has excellent links to ILS and RefWorks. A group account can be created in RefWorks
- ASABE—articles and standards. Find standards listed under publications—about 250 of them. Can limit searches to standards or other.
- Compendex—broadest, deepest engineering resource
- Applied Science & Technology Index —contains trade journals
- Biological and Agricultural Index
- CAB Abstracts
- Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management—fairly new resource
- Water Resources Abstracts
- Web of Science—find citations backwards and forwards
Standards—
- ASTM—www.astm.org
- Latest in Fiedler in Print—the Annual Book of ASTM Standards at TA401 .A653 . No web access, but can look for standards through web search and then find print. Print Index in FRONT. Anything older than the current year will be found in Hale Stacks. Year shown by -99 at the end of standard number.
- ASABE—www.asabe.org (as mentioned above)
- CE—European Standards—Dr. Brokesh will provide further information. However: http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/Global/contents.cfm has an introduction
- IEEE Xplore will have standards. Standards can be found by number/year or letter/number/year OR by doing a keyword search. All 802.11 standards can be found here. IEEE especially important to biomedical devices.
- NIST—The National Institute of Standards and Technology National Center for Standards and Certification Information. See http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/Conformity/ncsci.cfm Many of these standards are also owned by the library in miroform format on the 3 rd floor of Hale. They can be located through the library catalog.
- UL—Underwriter's Laboratory. See the library catalog. Call numbers begin with T55.A5 UL, a number and a year of approval. K-state does not own all; those owned will be in Love Science Library
Patents:
- US--http://patft.uspto.gov/
- European patents--http://ep.espacenet.com/ -- I prefer this to the US Patent database. It goes back farther without requiring the .tif plug-in.
