It was during this time (November 2002) he started collecting letters in extension to his genealogy research.  The primary thing he looked for was genealogical information on the families mentioned in the letters.  In some cases, letters are the only source of information, e.g., births and marriages in the 19th Century.  Most of the letters were purchased on eBay. Schlee donated his collection to the Morse Department of Special Collections in 2006, when he left Kansas State Universty.
