Basic daily tasks will include article scanning utilizing Illiad software, vacuuming and sorting transit items from Hale, and tray shelving assistance in the chamber.  Additional tasks to include both regular holdings and GovStorsorting, tray sizing and accessioning as determined by need and competence.  This is NOT an on-campus position but is at our off-site Annex, 5980 Corporate Drive - View map of job location HERE

Schedule:  Minimum of 12 hours (maximum 20) on Monday-Friday 8-5 p.m.  Because of off-site location, it is preferred that the student has a minimum of a 3-hour time block per day. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to accurately perform repetitive tasks for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to move and lift book trays weighing 50-60 lbs.
  • Ability to provide their own transportation to Annex (5980 Corporate Dr.).
  • Should not have high sensitivity to mold spores or dust as they are sometimes present.

 

Preferred special knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must have ability to work accurately with details.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with other library staff.
  • Basic experience in scanning, image editing, and/or web page design.

 

Task/ Weight

  1. 40%   Daily article scanning of Interlibrary Loan requests.  This task requires a moderately detailed procedure using both Interlibrary Loan software in conjunction with a large digital book scanner.
  2. 20%   Vacuuming and sorting.  This task requires manual cleaning and sorting of the items that come daily from Hale.  It involves light lifting and standing for long periods.
  3. 10%   Sizing.  This task requires placing items into their appropriately sized trays, and creating work order batches of trays.  It also requires light lifting and standing for long periods.
  4. 10%   Shelving.  This task requires placing the accessioned trays onto appropriate shelves in the warehouse.  It involves heavy lifting for a short period of time.
  5. 20%   GovStor pre-accessioning.  This task requires pre-sorting boxes of items by barcode and prepping them for accessioning including some light lifting.  Depending on Annex needs, it may also involve using Hale’s ILS program (Alma) for verifying items during the sorting process.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
